Formal Research Methods
- Access electronically: The research process have been change considerably by computer. Most business people begin any research process by seeing what they can find electronically.
- Search manually: If you need background or supplement information, you will probably conduct manual research in public or college library.
- Investigate primary sources: primary sources for a project, go directly to the sources. Also formal research include scientific sampling methods that enable investigators to make accurate judgement and valid predictions.

Informal Research Methods
- Look in the files: before asking others for help, see what you can find yourself.
- Talk with your boss: Get information from the individual making the assignment.
- Interview the target audience: Consider talking with individual at whom the message is aimed.
